We like to make NZ campervan hire cheap and easy, hard to believe isn't it! Our insurance options are no different. As part of your daily campervan hire fee you're already covered with standard insurance without having to pay another cent, dollar, euro, pound, pence, yen, buck or biscuit.

But for those keen to avoid anything that might make their campervan trip around NZ a little less enjoyable we offer two additional options which reduce the excess you're liable to pay should something go wrong.

Terms explained

  • "Standard insurance" means that the vehicle you hire is insured for damage to the vehicle and to the property of a Third Party.
  • "Excess" means the dollar amount the driver is liable for in the event of vehicle, other vehicle or property damage. Also known as "excess level" or "liability".
  • Our "No Worries” insurance options allow you to upgrade your insurance cover which reduces this excess amount.
  • "Age" refers to the age of the youngest person who will be driving the rental vehicle. It is determined at the start of your hire period; not the date when you booked the vehicle.

Our insurance explained

  • Standard insurance is included for free as part of your basic campervan rental fee.
  • The excess can be reduced by purchasing one of our No Worries insurance options as detailed below.
  • All our insurance options also cover the cost of the daily rental rate for the period the vehicle is out of service for repair.

Tyre & Windscreen cover is not included with any Explore More hire, but can be purchased with Excess Reduction - Option 2 for an extra $5/day.
